The Angry Beavers began in 2022 with a group of women who attended "Hockey Moms" at Piney Orchard Ice Arena in Odenton, MD. Wednesday nights soon became a night of fun, sweat and building relationships both on and off the ice. Unbeknownst to him, Coach Nelson Burton led the group of women through skills and drills and soon created the foundation of the Angry Beavers team.

In the summer of 2022, the Angry Beavers participated in the DMV Mash-Up Tournament, joining forces with another local team, the Jenn & Tonics. The mash up of beginner Angry Beaver players with the experienced group of Jenns made it to the championship game, which only developed a hunger for additional competitive avenues in the future.

From there, the Angry Beavers have participated in numerous tournaments all along the east coast. In 2023 they participated in the Vino Cup at Ice World in Abingdon, MD, the Brewery Cup at The St. James in Springfield, VA, as well as a return the DMV Mash-Up again being paired up with the Jenn & Tonics.  The spring and summer of 2024 saw more tournament action including the FWHL State Tournament in Boca Raton, FL, Hockey Fights MS in Hershey, PA, and again the Brewery Cup at the St. James in Virginia.

​​Now, the Angry Beavers have taken the next step to join the Mid Atlantic Women's Hockey League (MAWHL). Between playing in MAWHL and various tournaments, 2024-2025 will find the team playing more consistently throughout the year. Our hopes is to develop a club in which offers options for women of all skill levels to play the game we have all come to love.
